The Snow Queen

Description

The snowflakes got bigger and bigger, until they looked like big white hens. All of a sudden the curtain of snow parted, and the big sleigh stopped and the driver stood up. The fur coat and the cap were made of snow, and it was a woman, tall and slender and blinding white-she was the Snow Queen herself.

Book Context
A little boy named Kai is bewitched by the powerful and mysterious Snow Queen after he gets a shard of an enchanted mirror stuck in his eye.  After he is taken away to her palace in the North, Kai's neighbor and friend Gerta goes on an adventure to save him.

Notes on Scent
I wanted this scent of this slime to transport you to the world on the Snow Queen - the cold winter air comes from the wintergreen, and the smell of a European forest comes from the Black Spruce.

Notes on Texture
The topper for this slime is inspired by a swirling blizzard - I used biodegradable airsoft bbs for a nice hard crunch, and also I thought looked like the Snow Bees that the Queen rules over in the story.  I mixed them with seed beads and white sand to give the illusion of falling snow throughout the slime.

Notes on the Book Cover
The cover is inspired by the original 1844 edition of Nye Eventyr, where The Snow Queen first appeared.  I added one of Vilhelm Pedersen's original illustrations to the cover to emphasize the Snow Queen part of the book.
