Description

Opening it hurriedly, out there jumped five little dried orange pips, which pattered down upon his plate. I began to laugh at this, but the laugh was struck from my lips at the sight of his face. His lip had fallen, his eyes were protruding, his skin the colour of putty, and he glared at the envelope which he still held in his trembling hand, ‘K. K. K.!’ he shrieked, and then, ‘My God, my God, my sins have overtaken me!’

Book Context
This short mystery centers around Colonel Openshaw, who after after receiving a letter with the five orange pips (seeds), dies under mysterious circumstances.  His estate passes to his brother, who also receives a letter and subsequently also dies.  Colonel Openshaw's nephew appeals to Sherlock Holmes for help after he too receives the letter.  The villains of the story turn out to be members of the Ku Klux Klan, who are seeking revenge for Colonel Openshaw stealing valuable documents from them.

Notes on Texture
The base is a thick coated clear - the beads, being glass, do have a tendency to fall out with more vigorous play.
