5 King Achashverosh said he said to Queen Esther, "Who is this, and which one is he, that has the audacity to do such a thing?" 6 "A man who is a persecutor and an enemy: this evil Haman!" Esther replied. And Haman shuddered in the presence of the king and the queen.

Textual Context
Purim is the holiday where we celebrate the story of the Megillah:
In ancient Persia King Achashverosh takes Esther as his new queen, but due to persecution of the Jews, Esther hides the fact she is Jewish from her new husband.  The King's evil advisor Haman is power hungry, and demands that the common people bow before him - Mordechai, Esther's uncle, refuses to bow to anyone other than G-d, and defies Haman's orders.  This enrages the advisor, who then tricks the king into decreeing the destruction of all the Jews.  In order to save her people, Esther reveals her identity to the king.  She is victorious, the Jews are saved, and Haman is hung on the gallows he had constructed for the Jews.

Hamentashen are the cookies we eat on Purim to celebrate!  They come with a variety of fillings, but are always triangular to pay homage to Haman's three cornered hat.

Notes on the Book Cover
Since Purim fell two days before this drop, I wanted to make a kid's book about the holiday!  My mom came up with the name The Runaway Hamentash, and I imagined a story of a little girl throwing a Purim party who runs into trouble when her cookies run away!
